In a major development in the case of Katelyn Markham’s murder, her fiancé John Carter has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder in connection with her death.

The news has been overwhelming to her family and the community, who have been following the story since her disappearance from her Fairfield home in August of 2011.

Katelyn’s remains were found nearly two years later in a remote wooded area in Cedar Grove, Indiana.

Jonathan Powell, who murdered the best friend of Katelyn’s fiancé, was indicted on a perjury charge last month.

And now, John Carter is in custody and charged with murder, which gives Katelyn’s father a little bit of closure.

Carter’s mother did not have a comment on this news.

Carter is currently being held at the Butler County Jail.
