One Person Dead in Winston-Salem Crash

Winston-Salem, NC – A fatal crash occurred early this morning in Winston-Salem, leaving one person dead.

The accident took place on the red cap and on-ramp to I-70 for east from I-40 west, just after 4:30 a.m.

According to police reports, Dennis Alsip was driving on I-4 taking exit 196 when he ran off the left side of the ramp and hit a tree.

The road was closed for several hours, but it has since been reopened.

Meanwhile, in Greensboro, lanes on Spring Garden Street are also back open after an early morning crash.

The accident, which involved two cars and a utility, occurred around 4 a.m.

between Merritt Drive and Fraternity Drive.
