A lei-draping ceremony was held on March 17 to commemorate the birthday of Kauikeaouli King Kamehameha III, who ruled Hawaii for almost 30 years.
The ceremony took place at Admiral Thomas Square Park in Hawaii, where the statue of the monarch stands.
The event was attended by the Royal Hawaiian Band, and the Honolulu Fire Department also made a special appearance, both of which had served under King Kamehameha III.
The king is remembered for his role in transforming Hawaii from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy.
