As daylight saving time starts this Sunday, experts are warning that it could have a negative impact on people’s health.
Losing an hour of sleep can disrupt the body’s circadian rhythms, or internal clock, leading to lower quality sleep for up to two weeks after the time change.
Additionally, experts say that the practice of switching on and off daylight saving time can contribute to thousands of car accidents and even 300 deaths each year.
Some are calling for an end to the practice altogether.
In other news, over 3.2 million Calico Critter toys are being recalled after two children died.
The toys, sold by New Jersey-based company Everlasting Play, came with baby bottle and pacifier accessories and are considered a serious choking hazard for small children, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
