An attempted robbery suspect was shot and killed by an Englewood police officer near Oxford and Broadway on Saturday.

The police officer responded to a call about an attempted robbery at a motel and chased the suspect on foot to an area near Princeton and Broadway.

The suspect was armed and died at the hospital after the shooting.

The 18th Judicial District critical incident shoot team is investigating the incident.

The police officer involved is on administrative leave and was not injured.

The area is closed off for investigation and should reopen later in the evening.
