In a surprising move, the Philadelphia Eagles have signed quarterback Marcus Mariota to a one-year deal.

With Jalen Hurts as the starter, the Eagles were in need of a backup quarterback, and Mariota will fill that role.

Mariota, a former Heisman Trophy winner and second overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft, spent last season with the Las Vegas Raiders after five seasons with the Tennessee Titans.

The 27-year-old quarterback will provide experience and depth to the Eagles’ quarterback position.

This move comes as a shock to many fans, but the Eagles seem to be preparing for every scenario as they head into the upcoming NFL season.
