Good morning, I am Erin Pickens. Voting appears to be steady in the metro area. Crystal Tisme from 16 WAPT is live at “Voting Precinct One” on State Street, which replaced the permanently closed Eudora Welty Library. It is Election Day and the polls will open in less than ten minutes, bringing much anticipation for the gubernatorial race.
I am here at Precinct One, the military building in Hinds County, where poll workers are preparing to welcome voters. Just a reminder, before you head to the polls, check your voter registration card to ensure you are going to the correct precinct location. Polls will be open from 7 A.M. to 7 P.M.
today. I am Crystal Tisme, reporting live in Jackson for 16 WAPT News. Now, let’s hear the forecast from the meteorologist. High temperatures today will reach the mid-80s for many, accompanied by a light southwestern breeze of around 10 mph. Tomorrow morning, temperatures will drop back to the upper 50s to low 60s, with highs returning to the mid-80s.
Near record highs are possible today and tomorrow, with the current records set in 2022. There is a chance that these records could be met in certain areas over the next two days.
However, after Wednesday, our forecast indicates a gradual cool down as we prepare for an approaching cold front..
