A survivor of a brutal stabbing in El Sereno is speaking out about his terrifying attack.

David Anthony Zapata, 32, is accused of a double stabbing that took place on March 3, which left one victim dead and another seriously injured.

Xavier Daniel Cha, a 17-year-old honor student, was waiting for his mother to pick him up after school when he was attacked and killed by Zapata.

The second victim, Daniel Via Lobos, was stabbed six times as he was leaving for work, and ran to a nearby store for help.

He is now recovering from life-changing injuries, including wounds to his abdomen and shoulder.

Zapata was taken into custody and charged with murder and attempted murder.

Authorities believe that a second person may be responsible for the attacks, as someone was seen driving a getaway car.

The survivor and the victim’s family share this traumatic experience, but are trying to move forward despite the unfairness of it all.

Zapata’s next court appearance is in April, and the investigation into the second suspect is ongoing.
