Bartow High School Senior Among 5 Injured in Double Fatal Crash

Bartow, Polk County – Tragedy struck early Tuesday morning when a double-fatal crash claimed the lives of two construction workers and left five others injured.

Among the injured is a senior student from Bartow High School, who was on her way to school at the time of the accident.

The incident occurred at the intersection of State Road 60 and Pine Grove Road in Mulberry.

According to investigators, the collision took place when an SUV carrying the construction workers made a right turn directly in front of the red pickup truck driven by the high school senior.

The impact was devastating, with debris scattered across the scene.

The collision resulted in the tragic loss of two lives and left survivors in critical condition.

The construction workers in the SUV, who were reportedly not wearing seatbelts, were ejected from the vehicle upon impact.

Two of them landed on the road, while the other two landed in the nearby wood line.

Sadly, the injuries sustained by the construction workers proved fatal, claiming their lives.

Deborah Private, a witness to the crash, expressed her concerns about the increasing number of accidents on the same corner.

She mentioned previous incidents involving children and numerous car wrecks, emphasizing the urgency to address the safety issues.

Sheriff Judge, commenting on the crash, placed the blame on the driver of the SUV, stating that it was the driver’s responsibility to see the oncoming red pickup truck and yield.

He urged people not to blame the road itself but to acknowledge the importance of being attentive and cautious while driving.

The Bartow High School senior was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital and is reportedly in a better condition than initially expected.

However, one of the construction workers remains in critical condition.
