Florida Governor Ron DeSantis made his debut in Iowa as part of his book tour, with many speculating it could be the beginning of his 2024 presidential campaign.
Despite not officially announcing his candidacy, DeSantis has been making moves that suggest he is preparing for a presidential run.
He spoke to a crowd of over a thousand people in Iowa and appeared alongside Iowa’s Republican Governor, highlighting his response to COVID-19 and touting Florida as a free state.
DeSantis has received standing ovations and is well-liked among Republicans in Iowa, with 74% having a favorable view of him according to a poll by the Des Moines Register.
However, 20% of those polled could not weigh in on their feelings towards him.
Nikki Haley, another potential Republican presidential candidate, also appeared in Iowa today, participating in a panel discussion with Iowa Senator Joni Ernst.
Former President Donald Trump is also set to visit Iowa soon.
Although Trump’s favorability among Iowa Republicans is currently slightly higher than DeSantis, the numbers have been trending down.
Despite not officially announcing his candidacy, DeSantis has privately indicated to some around him that he will run.
