Transitional Improvements: Helping Homeless & Formerly Incarcerated Grocery Store Shooting; 1 Injured, 1 in Custody

A dangerous disaster occurred in Nepal, which is India’s neighboring country. On November 3, 2023, a powerful earthquake hit the Jajarkot district of Nepal.

The earthquake measured 6.4 on the Richter scale, with a maximum scale being 10. It was a significant earthquake that occurred at a depth of approximately 15 km below the Jajarkot district at 11:45 pm. Strong tremors were felt in parts of UP, Bihar, and Delhi in India. As a result, Indian citizens quickly evacuated their homes after experiencing the tremors for more than 15 seconds.

The earthquake caused extensive damage to properties. Unfortunately, in Nepal, it claimed the lives of 157 people and injured over 200 individuals. However, there have been no reports of loss of life or property damage in India, which is a relief. Nepal’s Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, headed to the site of the incident with a medical team. The rescue efforts were carried out by the Nepal police and Nepal army.

Since the massive earthquake on November 3, 2023, a total of 159 aftershocks have been recorded, which is quite shocking. Even Indian Prime Minister Modi expressed his sadness over the tragedy and offered all possible assistance to Nepal. On November 5, 2023, India’s first consignment of emergency relief material worth ₹10 Crore reached Nepal. Additional relief material will be sent in future shipments. PM Modi has also released a helpline number for Indians in Nepal who need urgent assistance. Prior to November 3, Nepal had experienced similar strong earthquakes on October 3 and October 22, 2023.

In 2015, Nepal recorded a massive earthquake measuring 7.8 magnitude, which resulted in the death of approximately 9000 people. It was truly devastating.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected individuals as they recover from this natural disaster..
