Our reporter Dana Smith is live in Newport News this afternoon to provide us with the details. A spokesperson for the Newport News Police Department described this incident as very tragic.
The incident occurred right next to Dana, inside a home on Canabury Run at approximately 6:00 p.m. last night. The crime scene was secured with the presence of several police cars. Upon investigation, officers discovered a 76-year-old woman and a 75-year-old man with a single gunshot wound.
Medical professionals pronounced both individuals dead. Neighbours, who were acquainted with the couple, stated that they moved to the area from Florida six months ago.
