Deadly Fire in Southeast Albuquerque Duplex

Authorities are investigating a homicide in southeast Albuquerque after a person was found dead during a fire early this morning.

The Albuquerque Fire Rescue was called to a duplex in the 2500 block of Silver Street Southeast, near Central and Girard, at around 7:00 am.

When they arrived, they found heavy smoke and put out the fire, but also discovered a deceased person inside.

According to investigators, the person had injuries consistent with a homicide, prompting the Homicide Unit to be called in to investigate the incident.

Further details about the victim and the circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been released.

Residents in the area are advised to stay alert and to report any information that may assist with the investigation.
