The identity of the deceased person has not been disclosed. Firefighters in Sullivan County had a busy weekend dealing with two massive fires within two days. On Saturday, crews from multiple towns responded to a three-alarm fire on Gilman Pond Road in Unity. According to a firefighter at the scene, everyone in the house made it out safely.
Sunapee Fire was called to the scene around 1:30 in the afternoon and stayed for almost four hours. Many of the firefighters who responded to the Unity fire also provided assistance at the site of Friday’s fire in Northfield. The fire in Northfield destroyed a building that dated back to the 1800s.
Newport’s Police Chief reported that one person suffered minor injuries..
