A dance student from Pittsburg, Brooke Jeffrey, died in a hit-and-run crash earlier this week, leaving her dance studio and community in mourning.

The 17-year-old was supposed to be practicing with her friends at Melody’s dance studio in Antioch, but was hit by a driver less than an hour after leaving practice.

Brooke’s mother said that her daughter was killed at a dangerous intersection where the traffic lights often don’t work and drivers often speed.

Friends remember Brooke as a great dancer, a terrific cook, and full of life.

Brooke’s family and friends are demanding answers and calling for the driver to come forward and be held accountable.

A vigil for Brooke will be held in front of her high school tomorrow night.

Police have not released any information about the suspect vehicle yet.
