Craven Community College recently hosted a job fair to address the shortage of childcare educators in Eastern North Carolina.

The event, held on Saturday, aimed to attract potential educators to the Early Childhood Education Program.

Meanwhile, Craven Smart Start organized its 17th annual Building Bright Futures conference for child care providers from several counties including Dare, Hyde, Beaufort, Terrell, Craven, and Pamlico.

The conference focused on providing professional development opportunities for providers, including sessions and trainings centered on natural and outdoor learning.

The goal was to equip educators with tools to teach children about the environment and encourage learning outside the classroom.

The conference emphasized that children can learn and explore outside just as well as they can inside, and the topic of the year revolved around getting young children to appreciate and learn from nature.
