COVID-19 remains “very prevalent” in Canada, according to Dr.
Theresa Tam, who warned that despite relatively steady levels of cases, hospitalizations, ICU admissions, and deaths, the virus is still a significant threat.
Tam recommended that people continue to take precautions, including wearing masks and getting booster doses, particularly for those at the highest risk.
While Tam anticipates that people may not need to wear masks as much during the spring and summer months, she still encourages people to be tolerant of those who choose to wear masks, as everyone’s circumstances are different.
While mandatory masking is not in effect in most parts of the country, it is still strongly recommended by Tam.
