A nonprofit in Rockdale County, Atlanta called Courageous Conversations is organizing a special dinner this weekend to facilitate conversations about racial equity.
The event, called an Equitable Dinner, is free and open to the public.
The nonprofit was founded in 2020 in response to racial tension and unrest following the deaths of George Floyd, Ahmad Arbury, Brianna Taylor, and Rayshard Brooks.
The group aims to challenge people of all races to come together and have hard conversations about race.
Two renowned authors, Dr.
Gary Chapman and Dr.
Clarence Schuler, will help guide the conversations about how to build long-lasting cross-cultural relationships.
The event will take place at Springfield Baptist Church in Conyers from 4 until 7 pm on Sunday.
The co-founder of the nonprofit, licensed professional counselor Rebecca Gibbons, says she has seen positive outcomes from these conversations and hopes to continue fostering open and honest dialogue.
