Counselors Offer Home Buyout Program for South Dakota Residents Affected by Floods
Residents of a South Central Sioux Falls neighborhood who were affected by heavy flood waters in March 2019 may be eligible for a buyout program.
The program is being offered to homeowners in the area of Rosen Law to just south of the Big Sioux River near Interstate 2.29.
Albert Schmidt, an urban planner with the City of Sioux Falls, provided data to KELOLAND News on the voluntary buyout program.
The program is open to the public and invitations are sent out once a year in the summer.
Applications are then closed and submitted to state and FEMA in December of that year.
Counselors are hoping to host more of these events for residents who have been affected by natural disasters in South Dakota.
