Transitional Improvements: Helping Homeless & Formerly Incarcerated Grocery Store Shooting; 1 Injured, 1 in Custody

Tonight, we kick off with the latest developments in the controversy surrounding the Clayton County Commissioner who claims she was drugged. Good evening and thank you for tuning in. I’m Russ Courtney Bryant.

The board has appointed a new vice chair to fill the vacant spot left after the commissioners voted to replace Felicia Franklin. Video evidence showed her seemingly passed out outside a sports bar called Box.

Now, our reporter Christopher King is live in Jonesborough where the board made their decision earlier. Christopher? That’s right, Russ Courtney.

The board has chosen Demand Davis as the new vice chair, and both the board and voters believe it’s time to move forward. Now, how do you respond to being removed? Commissioner Felicia Franklin swiftly exited the Clayton County board meeting, refusing to answer our questions.

This came after fellow commissioners appointed Demand Davis as the new vice chair, removing Franklin from her previous role. Many residents, such as Margaret Bryant, believe this decision was unjust and unfair. They feel the board should have been more forgiving, stating that everyone makes mistakes and one’s actions reflect on the county they represent. Orlando Gooden, another resident, claims Franklin disappointed the people by her drunken behavior and deemed her unfit to be a representative of the county. Franklin alleged that someone drugged her at the sports bar she was at back in September.

However, law enforcement found no evidence supporting her claim. They released video footage showing Franklin, who was then the vice chair, apparently passed out on the ground outside the bar.

The police report indicates that Franklin had consumed several alcoholic drinks and had cannabis in her system. The incriminating video speaks for itself. What more can be said? Chairman Jeff Turner defended the decision to remove Franklin as vice chair, asserting that commissioners must uphold high standards.

As representatives of Clayton County, it is crucial that we present ourselves in a way that our citizens can be proud of..
