The board appointed Demand Davis as the new vice chair, and both the board and voters believe it’s time to move forward. Commissioner Felicia Franklin quickly left the Clayton County board meeting and refused to answer our questions after fellow commissioners appointed Demand Davis as the new vice chair and removed Franklin from her role. Margaret Bryant, a resident, feels that the board should have been more forgiving since everyone has made mistakes. The way they conduct themselves reflects on the county, according to Orlando Gooden. Franklin claims that someone drugged her at a sports bar in late September, but the police found no evidence to support her assertion.
They released video footage showing Franklin passed out on the ground outside the bar. A toxicology report revealed that Franklin had consumed alcohol and had cannabis in her system. Chairman Jeff Turner defended the decision to remove Franklin as vice chair, stating that commissioners must uphold high standards as representatives of Clayton County.
