Commissioner Felicia Franklin quickly left the Clayton County Board meeting and refused to answer our questions after fellow commissioners removed her from the Vice Chair role. Margaret Bryant, a resident, feels that the board should have been more forgiving, as Franklin has not done anything that they should be ashamed of.
She is supposed to represent the people and her behavior reflects on the county. Orlando Gooden believes that Franklin let the people down, claiming that she was drunk and not a good representative of the county. Franklin alleges that someone drugged her at a sports bar in late September, but law enforcement found no evidence to support her claim.
They released video footage showing Franklin apparently passed out on the ground outside the bar. According to the police, a toxicology report revealed alcohol and cannabis in her system.
Chairman Jeff Turner defended the decision to remove Franklin as Vice Chair, stating that commissioners must hold themselves to high standards because they represent the citizens of Clayton County and need to present themselves in a way that the citizens can be proud of..
