Connecticut State Representative Robin Comey was arrested for operating under the influence (OUI) after crashing her car near the state capitol in Hartford.
She was stripped of her committee assignments after the DUI arrest.
According to police, Comey’s blood alcohol was nearly twice the legal limit and she failed sobriety tests at the scene.
The news spread quickly through the state capitol, and House Speaker sent out a statement calling it a dangerous situation and urging Comey to focus on her health and well-being.
One state lawmaker who was at a bar near the state capitol with Comey earlier in the day said she seemed fine at the time.
This is not the first time Comey has been in the spotlight for drinking.
