The Indianapolis Colts have made a major move, signing quarterback Gardner Minshew to a one-year deal worth $3.5 million, with incentives that could bring the total to $5.5 million.

The signing could potentially make Minshew the starting quarterback for the Colts in week one, given his familiarity with offensive coordinator Shane Steiken’s system.

The two previously worked together in Philadelphia.

The Colts also have the fourth overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft, but if they opt to select a rookie, Minshew would be an ideal veteran to start ahead of them and provide guidance as they develop.
