Central Alabama Braces for Cold Weekend
Residents of central Alabama are preparing for a chilly weekend, as temperatures are expected to dip well below freezing.
According to VTM 13 Weather, clouds will gradually thin out later this evening and overnight, allowing temperatures to drop even quicker, especially after midnight.
Many areas are expected to experience an area-wide cold night, with temperatures well below freezing.
Wind chills will also make it feel even colder than these numbers indicate.
Despite the official start of spring being just around the corner, temperatures are expected to remain cold until mid-week.
However, VTM 13 Weather predicts milder air for Tuesday and Wednesday, with temperatures expected to climb back up close to 80 degrees by the end of the week.
The region will also stay mainly dry through the first few days of next week, with some showers possible as we head into Wednesday, especially in areas north of I-20.
A stronger system is expected to bring a much better chance for rain and some thunderstorms as we head into Friday.
Residents are advised to watch for the potential for some strong to severe storms.
In the meantime, residents are advised to wrap up warm and stay safe as they go about their daily activities this weekend.
