Coastal Waste and Recycling Presents Free Sports Equipment Swap Event

Coastal Waste and Recycling is organizing a community-wide event called the “Youth Sports Equipment Swap Meet,” aimed at providing affordable sports gear to families.

Lauren Hopkins, the Commercial Sales Executive of Coastal Waste and Recycling, appeared on News 13 Midday to discuss the details of the event.

Sports equipment can be expensive, especially for growing children who often outgrow their gear.

Recognizing this challenge, Coastal Waste and Recycling has collaborated with various organizations to create a platform where families can exchange or obtain sports equipment at no cost.

The event has evolved into a community day, offering a range of exciting activities and giveaways.

The event will take place at the Public Sports Complex, starting at 9:00 AM on Friday and lasting until Tuesday.

As an incentive, the first 200 children to arrive will receive a free swag bag filled with goodies from vendors.

Additionally, there will be free sports physicals provided by Pantera, entertainment by Pepsi, and giveaways by 15 local nonprofits from the United Northwest Florida region.

Publix has sponsored a large obstacle course for children to enjoy, adding to the family-friendly atmosphere.

Lauren Hopkins emphasized that the primary goal of the event is to support parents and families in acquiring affordable sports equipment.

Beyond that, the event promises a fun-filled day with activities for the entire family, including free ice cream and appearances by popular mascots such as the Chick-fil-A Cow.

Thanks to the support of local sponsors, the event has received a generous donation of brand-new sports equipment, including soccer cleats and MLB materials.

Any leftover equipment will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Bay County.

Furthermore, proceeds raised by participating for-profit vendors will also go towards supporting the Boys and Girls Club.

Coastal Waste and Recycling has worked tirelessly to collect equipment for the event, with over 30 drop-off sites across the county.

They are excited to provide families with an organized shopping experience and encourage them to attend the event, even if they arrive without any sports gear.

To make the event even more special, a local nonprofit called The Wind Within, founded by Robinson, a Bay High graduate and former athlete for the Eagles, will be present.

Robinson has generously donated an autographed football, and lucky participants among the first 200 attendees will have a chance to win it.

The Youth Sports Equipment Swap Meet promises to be an extraordinary day of community engagement and support for families in need.

The event starts at 9:00 AM on Friday and is open to all who are looking for a fun-filled activity to enjoy with their loved ones.
