Clarksville K9 unit to receive National Medal of Valor
The Clarksville Police Department’s K9 unit is set to receive a high honor from the North American Police Work Dog Association.
Officer Thomas Bamforth and his police dog, Argo, will be awarded the Medal of Valor for their heroic actions during a chase late last year.
During the chase, Argo was hit by a car, but he quickly got back up and was able to catch the suspect by latching onto his leg before he could escape over a fence.
Thanks to Argo’s bravery and Officer Bamforth’s quick thinking, the suspect was apprehended and taken into custody.
The Medal of Valor is a prestigious award that recognizes acts of heroism and bravery by law enforcement officers and their canine partners.
The Clarksville Police Department is proud to have such a dedicated and courageous K9 unit serving the community.
In addition to the award, the Clarksville Police Department will also be providing their K9 unit with a life kit full of first aid supplies to ensure their safety and well-being while on the job.
This is a well-deserved recognition for Officer Bamforth and Argo, and the entire department is honored to receive such a prestigious award.
