In the past 24 hours, the Cl0p ransomware gang has claimed dozens of new victims, including energy giant Shell Global, high-end jet manufacturer Bombardier Aviation, and several universities in the US, including Stanford, Colorado, and Miami, according to Cyber News.
The group, which has been operating since 2019 and has ties to Russia, has infiltrated around 60 organizations and leaked hundreds, if not thousands, of files online.
Many of the leaked files contain sensitive information, including data from university students, individuals, and past and present employees, as well as purchasing orders and affiliate vendor details.
The group is considered one of the most used ransomware-as-a-service groups and appears to be gaining momentum despite six of its members being arrested by Ukrainian authorities in 2021.
The recent attack comes just days after cybersecurity firm Rubric confirmed they had been breached by the same group.
