A 23-year-old suspect has been charged with attempted murder, assault of a peace officer, and escape from a peace officer after attempting to escape police custody by climbing through the drop ceiling of a Chicago police station.

The suspect was involved in a chase that started on Dusable Lake Shore Drive and ended on the Southside Friday night.

The suspect and car were already wanted for aggravated battery of a police officer, and an officer’s leg was broken as they allegedly backed into him before taking off and being taken into custody.

The police station was left damaged, with debris and a hole in the ceiling.

The suspect is now expected to be in custody.
