Chicago Police Officer Struck by Fleeing Vehicle, Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder

A Chicago police officer was hit by a vehicle on DuSable Lake Shore Drive in South Loop on Friday night.

The incident occurred during a traffic stop when officers noticed Tajze Mullins, 23, in a vehicle matching the description of a suspect wanted in connection with another crime.

When police stopped Mullins, he reversed and hit an officer.

One officer fired their weapon, but no one was hit.

Mullins and another suspect were later arrested.

The injured officer suffered a broken leg but is expected to recover.

Mullins has been charged with attempted murder, among other charges.
