Chicago Mayoral Candidates Discuss Police, Crime, and Safety at Forum
Chicago mayoral candidates Brandon Johnson and Paul Vallas spoke at a forum over the weekend, hosted by several African-American fraternities and organizations, including Alpha Phi Alpha, the Coalition of African American Leaders, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and the AKARamaa Foundation.
The candidates discussed a variety of topics, including public safety, with both claiming their respective plans are best for the city.
Johnson received support from the Illinois Federation of Teachers union, with over 100 educators and union members gathering to get out the vote and speak to voters about Johnson’s vision for the city and background in education.
Meanwhile, Vallas touted his record on education, stating that his plan for public safety is not just about being tough, but also being smart by making critical investments where there is a need.
The mayoral runoff election begins on Monday, March 20th, and runs through Election Day on April 4th.
Early voting is available.
Fox 32 will host a Chicago mayoral forum on Wednesday, March 22nd, where Johnson and Vallas will participate in a roundtable discussion.
