Chicago Mayor-Elect Johnson has spoken out about the recent chaos caused by teenagers in the city, stating that it is not constructive to demonize them.
The warm weather has led to an increase in large groups of teenagers gathering in public places and behaving badly.
Over the weekend, there were several incidents of violence and vandalism, including car windows being smashed and a car being set on fire.
Police made 15 arrests during a disturbance near Millennium Park, where two teenagers were also shot.
Mayor Lori Lightfoot has assured residents that the police will make necessary adjustments to address these issues as summer approaches, while some officials are calling for parents to take responsibility for their children’s actions.
Most of those arrested have been charged with reckless conduct.
