Central Georgia to experience heavy rain and thunderstorms on Sunday

Macon, Georgia – Central Georgia is set to experience heavy rain and thunderstorms on Sunday, March 12, 2023.

The high pressure system that kept the sky clear on Saturday is moving out, allowing for a wave of rain to move in from the west.

The rain is expected to last throughout the day, with isolated storms embedded within the system.

The potential for severe weather increases as the day progresses, with the possibility of brief tornadoes spinning up.

Wind gusts are expected to peak at around noon, with gusts up to 31 miles per hour in Unadilla.

The severe weather outlook for Central Georgia is currently at level two out of five.

Residents are urged to stay informed and be cautious while driving during the rainy conditions.

The rain is expected to clear out by 10 p.m.

on Sunday, with lingering showers possible early on Monday.

The temperatures will also cool down after the rain, with midweek temperatures expected to be cooler and pleasant.
