A man was killed in Palmdale on the night of Feb.
14, 2023, while trying to steal a catalytic converter.
According to the LA County Sheriff’s Department, the suspect was attempting to remove the converter with a saw from a 4×4 parked in a shopping center parking lot when the driver, a woman who was sleeping in the car, woke up to the noise.
The suspect was under the car when the driver put it in reverse, accidentally running him over.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Department reports that the suspect was eventually taken into custody.
