Five men were killed and another injured during a violent clash between rival cartels in the town of Coronado in southern Chihuahua, Mexico.

The incident resulted in nearby businesses shutting down for safety reasons.

The Chihuahua Attorney General’s Office reported that the police seized seven vehicles, including four A15 and A47 style rifles, as well as a fragmentary grenade from the scene.

Although the specific cartels involved were not officially identified by the authorities, a newspaper, citing police sources, claimed that all the deceased individuals were members of the Sinaloa Cartel, with some associated with “La Linea,” a faction of the Juarez Cartel.

Following the gruesome discovery of a severed head near a chapel, a local priest took to social media, pleading for an end to the violence in Chihuahua.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the state of Florida confirmed its involvement in the ongoing investigation.
