The California Attorney General’s office announced tonight that it will be conducting a review of the County District Attorney’s dismissal of sexual assault charges against a Catholic priest. In a letter sent to CBS 13, the Attorney General’s office mentioned that the victim’s mother had requested an official review following the County DA’s decision to drop all charges against Father Michael Kelly. This decision was made after the victim, who had accused Kelly of abuse, passed away in 2016. It is worth noting that Kelly had previously been held accountable for sexual abuse in a separate Civil Trial in 2012 while he was still associated with the Stockton diocese.
Subsequently, he was relocated to Ireland..
