Caitlin Bickel Reflects on Her Time as a Baylor Lady Bear

As the Lady Bears gear up for their 19th consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament, one player is reflecting on her time with the team.

Grad student Caitlin Bickel is the only remaining player from the 2019 National Championship Squad and is preparing for her fifth and final tournament run in a Baylor uniform.

Despite being part of a program known for its successful basketball teams, Bickel says the expectations were always high.

However, over the past five years, the team has evolved, as has Bickel’s role, and she has stepped up as a leader.

As the Lady Bears enter this year’s tournament as a seven-seed, Bickel believes their seeding doesn’t matter as much as focusing on winning each game in front of them.

She’s been preparing as much as she can for her final postseason run in a Baylor uniform, and her dedication has earned her several awards and accolades over the years.

Bickel will graduate in May with a master’s degree in sports management and hopes to continue playing basketball in the WNBA or overseas.

But before that, fans can watch her and the Lady Bears take on the Crimson Tide in their first-round matchup on Saturday afternoon on ESPN2.
