Breaking news from Capitol Hill, where a man has been arrested for possessing a gun. One witness reported that the man was wearing an orange jumpsuit.

It was a chaotic situation for a few minutes here on Capitol Hill as this incident unfolded. The suspect was spotted in the park across from the Capitol campus and Union Station, the main train station in Washington DC. An eyewitness observed him with a long gun, although it has not been officially confirmed if it was an AR-15.
Capitol Police responded immediately, apprehending the man and shutting off access to certain areas, including the park. They are currently searching the park as well as the suspect’s belongings to determine the motive for possessing the gun.
Capital Police reassures us that this incident is believed to be isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the Capitol campus. Initially, one of the office buildings was closed, but it has since been reopened.
