President Biden, the First Lady, and the Vice President paid their respects at Arlington National Cemetery before heading to Biden’s home state of Delaware. However, they were met with protests outside of his Delaware home, with over 1,100 pro-Palestinian protesters calling for a cease-fire in Gaza. Despite the demonstrations, the President and the First Lady also participated in the 70th National Veterans Day Observance, laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and paying tribute to Beau Biden.

While the current war abroad was not explicitly discussed in Biden’s speech, there are ongoing protests supporting Palestine both in the United States and in other countries like London and Brussels..
