President Biden has authorized additional airstrikes in Syria as a response to recent attacks on US forces in Syria and Iraq. The strikes targeted a weapon storage facility used by Iran’s revolutionary guard. This is the second strike within a two-week period and is aimed at protecting American troops. The Pentagon remains concerned about potential escalation and the administration is working to prevent further conflict while ensuring the safety of US personnel.
The increase in attacks coincides with the Israel-Hamas War, but so far, the conflict has not spread. In addition to the ongoing coalition effort against ISIS, the US has also increased its military presence in the Middle East for deterrence.
Recently, a US drone was shot down by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, with conflicting claims regarding airspace.
