Batavia Woman Killed in Three-Car Crash on Route 5

Tragedy struck in the Town of Batavia on Friday night as a three-car crash claimed the life of one person.

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 68-year-old Maryellen Wilber, a Batavia resident, was driving westbound on Route 5 when her vehicle veered across lanes and collided with a Ford F-350 and a Jeep Cherokee.

Wilber was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the truck escaped without injury.

The driver of the Jeep Cherokee was taken to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) for treatment.

The cause of the accident is still being investigated, and no further details have been released at this time.
