Residents of the Central Coast who were affected by the recent winter storms received much-needed supplies today, thanks to donations collected by a Bakersfield resident, Marie Alexander.

Alexander, who was born and raised in San Luis Obispo County, collected donations throughout February and was able to gather clothing, blankets, medicine, non-perishable foods, and gift cards.

“This is my home,” she said.

“When I saw how my friends and my family were suffering with everything happening here, I just felt the need to do something.” The supplies were handed out to residents in need at the original train depot in Oceano until they ran out.

Alexander’s goal was to spread kindness and let people know that there is still goodness in the world.
