A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire destroyed more than two dozen boats in a marina near Seattle’s Ship Canal Bridge.

The fire occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning and took several hours to bring under control.

Firefighters managed to contain the blaze by around 3:30 am, but not before 30 boats had been destroyed.

The suspect was found nearby and is now facing charges related to arson.

While the damage could have been worse, some boat owners are still dealing with the emotional and monetary loss caused by the fire.

Authorities are also monitoring the situation to ensure that pollutants from the burnt boats and foam used by firefighters do not contaminate the water.
