Arson Investigating After Two Fires in One Night Damage Homes
Two house fires broke out last night in different locations.
The first fire started around 11:15 pm at a home on Ashland Street.
Fire crews were able to respond quickly, but the flames had already spread to nearby homes causing some damage.
Luckily, both occupants of the home were able to escape, although one required treatment by EMS at the scene.
Only twenty minutes later, another fire was reported on Caton Street.
Fire crews had to use a ladder to reach the blaze, which had caused minor damage to neighboring homes.
Again, two occupants of the home were able to escape, but one was evaluated by EMS and released at the scene.
Unlike the first fire, officials believe this second fire may have been started intentionally.
An official on the scene stated that the cause of the fire is under investigation by arson specialists for reasons that he could not discuss at the time.
The house on Caton Street is considered a total loss.
Residents in the area are understandably concerned about the safety of their homes and families.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about either of the fires to come forward and assist with the investigation.
