The International Criminal Court at The Hague has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin for war crimes related to the abduction of Ukrainian children during the Ukraine war.

The court accuses Putin of unlawful deportation and claims that Russia is re-educating the children as Russians.

Putin and Maria Labova Belova, the country’s Commissioner of Children’s Rights, are both implicated in the charges.

Russia has denied the accusations, claiming they are saving the children.

Ukraine’s President, Vladimir Zielinski, says only 300 of the more than 16,000 cases have been returned.

While Moscow does not recognize the Court’s Authority, international law dictates that if Putin travels to any of the 123 countries that are members of the ICC, he must be arrested.

President Biden has reacted to the arrest warrant.
