Police are conducting a door-to-door search on Hawaiʻi Island for a suspect who is considered armed and dangerous.
This search follows an officer-involved shooting in Kailua-Kona that resulted in the death of one man.
The suspect, identified as Lee Cole, is wanted for the attempted murder of his domestic partner who he allegedly shot in the head with a modified shotgun.
Cole was last seen driving a white Dodge sedan and a Chevy Malibu that he allegedly stole with other people.
Police intercepted one of the stolen cars in the Corner area, which resulted in a police-involved shooting where a suspect was killed.
Cole fled the area on foot and is believed to be in a rural area near a nearby gulch.
Officers are using infrared night vision to search for him, and residents in the area are advised to avoid the area and call the police if they see Cole.
Cole is described as wearing jeans and a plaid shirt, standing at 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 215 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
He has a distinctive tattoo on his right cheek near his eye that reads “Greed.” Police warn that Cole is an armed and extremely dangerous person who does not want to be captured and poses a significant hazard to the community.
