Hello, I’m Erin Pickens and I’m reporting live from “Voting Precinct One” on State Street. This precinct was opened after the permanent closure of the Eudora Welty Library. Election day has arrived and the polls will open in less than ten minutes. There is much anticipation surrounding the gubernatorial race.
I am currently at Precinct One, the military building in Hinds County, where poll workers are preparing to welcome voters. Before you head to the polls, please remember to check your voter registration card to ensure you are going to the correct precinct location.
The polls will be open today from 7 AM to 7 PM. Reporting live from Jackson, I’m Crystal Tisme from 16 WAPT News. Now let’s turn to the meteorologist for today’s forecast.
Today, temperatures will reach the mid-80s for many with a light southwest breeze of around 10 mph. Tomorrow morning, temperatures will fall back to the upper 50s or even as warm as the low 60s, with highs returning to the mid-80s.
It is possible that we could reach near record highs today and tomorrow, as the previous records were set in 2022. In some areas, we might even meet or exceed these records over the next two days.
However, after Wednesday, our forecast will start to cool down as we prepare for an approaching cold front..
