Man Accused of Armed Robbery at Albuquerque ATM Appears in Court
Aron Leon, the man accused of armed robbery at an Albuquerque ATM, appeared in court today and pled no contest to the charges.
The incident occurred on New Year’s Day 2022 when Leon allegedly pointed a gun at a woman who had just withdrawn all her money from the Wells Fargo at Rio Bravo and Second.
After taking off with the money, Leon led police on a high-speed chase, reaching 90 miles per hour before ditching the car and attempting to flee on foot.
He was eventually apprehended with the help of a police dog.
Leon faces up to 9 years in prison for the robbery, which will run concurrently with federal charges he is currently facing.
His sentencing is scheduled for July.
The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate the incident.
