Alice Robinson, an 80-year-old employee at Tidewater Community College (TCC) in Norfolk, was recently named the 2022 wage employee of the year.
She has been working at TCC for over two decades and was recognized for her achievements by Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin and Senator Mark Warner.
On Monday, Robinson was surprised in her office by four generations of her family to celebrate her birthday and her accomplishments at TCC.
As an administrative assistant in the Dean’s office, Robinson has helped numerous students throughout her time at the college.
Robinson herself was a student at TCC years ago and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Norfolk State University at the age of 69.
She loves TCC and her favorite saying is “a mind is a terrible thing to waste.” She has no plans to retire and is still enjoying her work every day.
TCC’s recognition of Robinson’s loyal service and dedication to her job is heartening, and her story is an inspiration to us all.
