A 72-year-old man is recovering after losing part of his leg in an alligator attack in Brevard County, Florida.
The man lost part of his right leg from the knee down when a gator got a hold of him from a canal near his home in Titusville.
Wildlife officials trapped and killed two gators after the attack at the Great Outdoors RV and Golf Resort on Windsong Way.
The victim was airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center.
Florida Fishing and Wildlife officials are investigating the incident and warn that alligators become more visible and active during the summer and spring, which is mating season for the animals.
They urge people to keep a safe distance from gators, call officials if they are concerned, and keep pets on a leash and away from water.
